Our History

Making grants to young, disabled or disadvantaged people since 2015.

Following two years of extensive consultation, and a ballot of members, the decision to set up the charity was taken at the AGM in October 2015.

161 members voted in the ballot and 88% of those voting approved the formation of the charity. Starting in 2016 we have nevertheless made 50 grants and given out £80,370.

We have favoured grants to young, disadvantaged and disabled people throughout the Highland’s.

Thus our music grants have been for teaching young musicians the harp and clarsach and piping grants have favoured tuition for piping and drumming. Grants have been given for piping in Forres, Moray, Ardross, Drumnadrochit, Lochalsh, Inverness, Strathpeffer and Cromarty.

Of course we have also supported a variety of charities in the arts, education, sport and community development. Our grant giving has steadily increased. This year we gave out £20,500 in grants compared to £5,040 in 2019.

Please drop us an email to support@nmcharity.org.uk if you would like a full list of all our grants.
