Dingwall Heritage Trail. Extend the Heritage Trail. £2,500

October 2022
The Northern Meeting Charity knows that Dingwall has a remarkable history, starting with the Picts, continuing with the Viking assembly field or Thing, (from which the town derives its name) and its creation as a royal burgh in the 13th Century.

Its 18th century prosperity as a market town, complemented by Telford’s canal and the railway adds to Dingwall’s heritage story. Yet very little of this story is visible or interpreted for the visitor and many residents are unaware of the past around them.

This is the story that the display panels of the Heritage Trail will reveal.

The Dingwall Development Company has obtained funds for seven display panels in the town. The Northern Meeting  grant of £2,500 will extend the panels from the town centre to the railway station and the Conan Estuary. The information panels will be complemented by leaflets, maps and a website.
